Apple will make a significant discount on the latest iPhone models in China amid low demand and growing competition. Reuters reports this with reference to information from the official website of the company in China, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
Prices will be reduced by 500 yuan (70 dollars, about 6,150 rubles at the exchange rate at the time of writing) for the period from January 18 to 21, the promotion is timed to coincide with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Experts note that sales of the Apple iPhone 15 in China were much worse than those of previous models of the American corporation. This is partly explained by the fact that Chinese companies such as Huawei and Xiaomi have recently introduced competitive models to consumers, and many government and private companies in China prohibit their employees from using Apple devices.
iPhone sales in China fell 30 percent in the first week of 2024 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to analysts at Jefferies. For all of 2023, the sales decline was 3 percent.
Apple hasn’t reduced the prices of its latest iPhones for years.
