Apple’s Weather app in iOS 18 is better than ever

by time news

When iOS 18 becomes widely available this fall, it will bring many changes to the iPhone operating system’s built-in apps. Among the apps being upgraded is Apple’s Weather app. Although the changes are small, they are worth seeing.

In most weather apps you have to choose whether you want to see the actual temperature or the feeling of temperature. In iOS 18, the Weather app will show both temperatures, and in a smart way.

At the top of the Weather app screen, the actual temperature will be displayed in large print, while the sensed temperature will be displayed directly below in smaller print and a different color.

The best thing is that the temperature sense will only appear when there is a significant difference from the actual temperature. So you will not see two temperatures the same, but you will only be informed when it is important, for example when the actual temperature is 32 and the perceived temperature is 36 degrees Celsius.

The second new feature of Apple Weather has to do with the Home and Work locations. In iOS 18, addresses from Contacts will be automatically added as new locations in the Weather app. This means you’ll be able to easily track the weather in your two main locations without having to add them manually.

Thanks to Apple’s app development platform, these changes will not only be available on the iPhone, but also on Macs and iPads with the installation of macOS Sequoia and iPadOS 18.
