For students who are studying in higher education, and for whom 45% is determined. or a lower level of participation (until December 31, 2023 – the level of working capacity), as well as the level of severe or moderate disability, financial assistance depends. They are paid a monthly allowance to meet their individual needs, partially reimbursed for study costs (if the student is studying at a paid place) and a monthly allowance to increase access to studies.
The following financial assistance measures are awarded:
• payment to meet individual needs (50% of the basic social insurance pension amount) monthly – 134.89 euros;
• to partially compensate study expenses (in the amount of 3.2 BSI) per semester – 176 euros. Benefits are paid regardless of the student’s other income. A student with a disability can apply for this benefit if:
• he/she has a participation rate of 45 percent or less (until December 31, 2023 – the level of work ability) or a level of severe or moderate disability;
• is studying at a higher education institution for the first time after being diagnosed with a disability, that is, without having completed the corresponding level of studies: according to the first-level (aims to obtain a professional bachelor’s or bachelor’s degree) study program or according to the integrated studies program; according to the second-cycle (master’s) study program; according to the professional study program; according to the third-cycle (doctoral) study program; according to the short study program.
A student with a disability who wants to receive financial aid measures, from September 1 to September 10 of the current year. must apply to the higher education institution and submit a request for financial aid and other documents.
