by time news

On August 2, the application period for the granting of the Social Household Electricity Tariff (KOT) for the next twelve months began.

As in previous years, this year the application period lasts one month and starts after the submission of tax returns is completed.

A. There are two categories of beneficiaries:

a. Those who meet the requirements for the granting of Social Solidarity Income fall under KOT A.

b. Those who meet the following requirements fall under KOT B:

i. They have an annual total actual or deemed income, up to the limits of the table we publish.

For a household that includes a person or persons with a disability of sixty-seven percent (67%) or more, the income limits increase by 8,000 euros.

For a household that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided at home and is essential for their life, the income limits increase by 15,000 euros.

For each additional adult member, an amount of 4,500 euros is added, and for each additional minor member, an amount of 2,250 euros, up to a total limit of 31,500 euros regardless of the number of household members. This specific ceiling (31,500 €) increases by 8,000 euros for a household that includes a person or persons with a disability of sixty-seven percent (67%) or more and by 15,000 euros for a household that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided at home and is essential for their life.

ii. They and the members of the household do not own real estate in Greece or abroad, with a total taxable value of up to 120,000 euros for a single-person household, increasing by 15,000 euros for each additional member and up to a maximum limit of 180,000 euros.

iii. The members of the household do not fall under the provisions of the luxury tax and do not declare living expenses for payments to crews of recreational vessels, tuition fees for private schools, and for domestic helpers, chauffeurs, teachers, and other personnel.

B. The application for inclusion in KOT is submitted every year in order to re-evaluate the conditions for inclusion in it. Applications are submitted electronically through IDIKA, by the tax return submitter of the household or their spouse, with the necessary condition that the electricity supply is already in the name of the submitter or their spouse. Each household receives KOT only for the supply of the primary residence.

C. KOT applies to the total four-month consumption and up to the corresponding limits provided for each category of beneficiary as follows:

Single-person household 1400 kilowatt-hours

Household with two adult members or a single-parent family with one minor member 1600 kilowatt-hours

Household with two adult members and one minor member or a single-parent family with two minor members 1700 kilowatt-hours

Household with three adult members or two adults and two minors or a single-parent family with three minors 1800 kilowatt-hours

Household with three adults and one minor member or two adults and three minor members or a single-parent family with four minor members 1900 kilowatt-hours

Household with four adult members or two adults and four minors or a single-parent family with five minors 2000 kilowatt-hours.

For consumption less than 200 kWh per four-month period, no KOT discount is calculated.

D. For a household that includes a person or persons with a disability of 67% or more, the above consumption limits increase by 300 kWh.

For a household that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided at home and is essential for their life, the above consumption limits increase by 600 kWh.

For each additional adult member, an additional consumption of 200 kWh is added, and for each additional minor member, an additional consumption of 100 kWh, up to a total limit of 2,400 kWh regardless of the number of household members. This specific maximum limit (2,400 kWh) increases by 300 kWh for a household that includes a person or persons with a disability of 67% and above and by 600 kWh for a household that includes a person or persons in need of mechanical support using medical devices, which is provided at home and is essential for their life.

E. The discount is 4.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for beneficiaries of KOT B and 7.5 cents for KOT A. It applies to the charge for daytime consumption or nighttime consumption if the consumer has a nighttime tariff.
