jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Mercu Buana University Alumni Association or ILUNI UMB submitted itself as amicus curiae or friend of the court in the case of dispute over general election results (PHPU) or dispute over the results of the 2024 Presidential Election to the Constitutional Court (MK) on Friday (19/4/2034).

They asked the Constitutional Court to cancel the results of the presidential election on February 14 2024 and hold the presidential election again without the participation of President Joko Widodo’s family.

“We provided input to the Honorable Judge of the Constitutional Court to make a delegation on April 22 2024, namely to annul the results of the presidential election which was held on February 14 2024 and then hold the presidential election again without the participation of President Joko Widodo’s family,” said ILUNI UMB Chairman Aznil Tan. after registering himself as an amicus curiae to the Constitutional Court.

Aznil said that his party asked for the 2024 presidential election to be repeated because there were practices of dynastic politics and nepotism which violated the founding spirit of the Indonesian state and the provisions of the Indonesian constitution.

This, he said, is disturbing academics, legal experts, pro-democracy, civil society, cultural observers, religious scholars and students.

“There was a violation committed by Vice Presidential Candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is the biological son of President Ir, H. Joko Widodo, who currently has the status of President of the Republic of Indonesia. “This is dynastic political behavior carried out by the ruling ruler to preserve power for his children,” said Aznil.

Apart from that, said Aznil, there was a practice of nepotism in the nomination of Gibran Rakabuming Raka to become Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate.

According to him, the practice of nepotism kills the sense of justice regarding the privilege obtained by President Joko Widodo’s son in being able to qualify as a contestant in the 2024 presidential election, even though he does not meet the requirements stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017.

The chairman of ILUNI UMB submitted himself as amicus curiae or friend of the court in the PHPU case or dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election to the Constitutional Court.
