Applying for an Egypt visa? You should pay attention to this!

by time news

You want to go to Egypt. To visit Egypt you must apply for a visa. How does this work, who does this apply to and how long will it remain valid? We answer these and other questions about your visa for Egypt in the following article. And we give some tips what you can do there!

A visa to Egypt

Do you need a visa for a holiday in Egypt? As said, it is indeed necessary. It does not matter whether you come by plane or, for example, by cruise ship. Even if you were to make the entire trip with your own transport, you must have a visa.

Each person needs their own visa, including children. Are you only transferring to another plane in Egypt? Then you do not need a visa as a Dutch citizen. You just can’t leave the airport.

How long can you stay in Egypt?

With a visa you can stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days. However, that does not mean that the visa is only valid for 30 days. That depends on the type of visa you are applying for. There is a distinction between a single entry and a multiple entry.

A single-entry is intended for a one-time visit to the country and remains valid for 90 days. The multi-entry remains valid for 180 days, so you can enter Egypt several times during that period. How often is not important, but you may never stay in the country for longer than 30 consecutive days.

This applies to both species.

How does applying for a visa for Egypt work?

Applying for a visa for Egypt is not complicated. They process this electronically, so you can simply fill in an application form online and you will also receive your visa digitally. It couldn’t be easier!

In any case, it is certainly not a reason to stay in the Netherlands and only visit the National Museum of Antiquities to learn more about Egypt.

What do I do if I want or need to stay longer in Egypt?

Of course you may have to be in the country longer. There could be several reasons for this. Maybe you want to spend more time with family, just to name a few. Do you always have to leave the country after 3 months?

That could be an option in itself, but it is more convenient to apply for a paper visa at the embassy of Egypt. This could also be done at the airport itself in Egypt, but that will work a lot less well. There is a good chance that you will have to wait for hours.

Are there any requirements to get a visa?

Yes, there are a number of things you should take into account if you want to apply for a visa for Egypt.

For example, you must be in possession of a passport, which is still valid for at least six months when you arrive. You must also be able to indicate at least 1 overnight stay when you apply for it.

If you arrive in Egypt, you must even have a travel schedule that includes an overview of your flights and accommodation.

If you are going to visit family or friends, you will have to be able to show a letter stating who you are and who you are going to (with address details). This is what they call an invitation letter.

You will not be informed whether you have a criminal record. Have you been to Egypt before? Then they also want to know that with the application form.

Exception to applying for a visa for Egypt

If you stay in a resort in South Sinai and you want to visit Egypt for less than 15 days, you do not need to apply for a visa.

People from countries such as the European Union travel without a visa to Sharm-el-Sheikh, Taba, Dahab or Nuweiba. The only caveat here is that if you do this, you are also not allowed to travel in South Sinai to places other than those mentioned above and you cannot stay longer than 15 days.

And now enjoy in Egypt

You have arranged the application for your visa for Egypt and nothing stands in the way of going to Egypt. Perhaps you are still wondering if it is safe to travel to Egypt? Check out the travel advice on the Netherlands worldwide here.

You may immediately think of the pyramids, but there is of course much more to see and experience in this country. You can sunbathe on the beach, dive into the sea and discover the beautiful underwater world or maybe you like crossing through the desert!

You can look at the stars at the Bedouin or visit Sharm el Sheikh, for example. Here you can experience a lot of culture in the region. You are here at Mount Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments and there is a beautiful monastery.

But you can also visit the mosque in the old center. Do you like water? Then El Gouna might be just right for you. This is a seaside resort consisting of several islands, which are connected by bridges.

Visit pyramids

Would you like to have visited the pyramids while you are still in Egypt with your requested visa? You’re right, because otherwise it feels like you haven’t really been there…

Egypt has many ancient sights, but those pyramids are the best known. Ask anyone what belongs to Egypt and they will answer this! They were made more than 5000 years ago and served as a burial place for the pharaoh.

There are several places where you can go to admire these special structures. As:
