In the face of the demands and protests of the deprived, the government has canceled the appointment of 8 Deputy Commissioners (DCs). Out of the 59 District Commissioners (DCs) appointed in two rounds, the 8 districts that have been canceled are – Laxmipur, Jaipurhat, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Shariatpur, Sirajganj, Rajbari and Dinajpur.
Public Administration Ministry Senior Secretary Mokhles Ur Rahman said this to the reporters of his office on Wednesday (September 11) at the secretariat.
He said that the list is made through a selection committee. That committee sat in review today. On review of the immediate happenings, the recruitment of DCs of 8 districts has been cancelled.
The senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration also said that we have taken into consideration the valid complaints against the appointed Deputy Commissioner based on the various constructive reports and complaints of the journalists. As you know, the DC fit list is made through the Standing Selection Committee, which is headed by the Cabinet Secretary. That committee sat today. They reviewed the immediate action taken, so far 8 DC appointments have been cancelled. In the last two days we have appointed 59 people as DCs in two lists.
It should be noted that new Deputy Commissioners were appointed in 59 districts of the country on Monday and Tuesday. A group of officials of the Public Administration Ministry protested at the secretariat last Tuesday, complaining of being deprived in the appointment of this post. After this incident, the appointment of 8 people was canceled from the ministry.
