jpnn.comJAKARTA – PDI Perjuangan General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri is grateful that the judges at the Constitutional Court (MK) still have a conscience in deciding cases.
He spoke thus after the announcement of the regional head candidates nominated for the 2024 simultaneous regional elections for wave III at the PDI Perjuangan office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday (26/7).
“Thank God, finally the Constitutional Court, its judges still have a conscience and courage,” said Megawati, Monday.
The daughter of the Indonesian Proclaimer Soekarno or Bung Karno expressed her gratitude in response to the Constitutional Court decision 60/PUU-XXII/2024 made by nine constitutional judges, including Anwar Usman.
This decision allows the PDI Perjuangan to nominate regional head candidates (cakada) independently in several regions.
Megawati admitted that she could not imagine if the Constitutional Court’s decision, which was final and binding, was manipulated for personal gain.
“I can’t imagine, you know, if the law is here, played around with, even though, there is a hierarchy like that. Have to take care of whatever can be done, yes, that’s the law in Indonesia,” said the Chairman of the BRIN Steering Committee.
Megawati, in addition to praising the Constitutional Court judges, also praised civil society, including students who demonstrated after the Constitutional Court’s decision was about to be played out.
