From autumn onwards, Spitz will be expanding the industrial process technology course across Austria to include a new sector.

The industrial process engineering apprenticeship has been around for a few years and since then has mainly been in more technical sectors. Spitz now wants to change that and will also be offering trend training in the food industry from autumn 2023.

Process technician training: Increasing importance of industrial technology in food production

The professional profile of process technicians is varied and challenging. The focus is even more on production and process flows than in food technology apprenticeships. After completing the three and a half year training, the area of responsibility includes, among other things, operating the systems, setting them up and maintaining them, carrying out process controls and resolving malfunctions. “The topic of digitalization and automation in industrial technology has gained momentum in recent years. The main reasons for this were, among other things, the increasing demands on food safety, new packaging technologies and alternative product concepts with natural or plant-based ingredients,” explains Martin Forster, CTO at Spitz , and adds: “Plants are becoming more and more modern and so technical background among production employees in the food sector is also extremely important.” The training to become a process technician should largely take place in the company. As a broad-based training company with state-of-the-art production facilities, an all-round infrastructure and extensive employee expertise, Spitz is ideally equipped for this.

Industrial teaching process technology is an investment in the future of the food industry

The traditional local company with headquarters in Attnang-Puchheim in Upper Austria is considered an attractive place to start a career in a crisis-proof industry. An opportunity that around 800 employees now rely on. The process engineering apprenticeship should not only inspire new, ambitious young talent, but also be an investment in the future of the food industry. “In addition to quality, the future and competitiveness of our products is just as important. To achieve this, we not only continually invest in state-of-the-art technology, but above all in our employees. Their know-how and commitment are crucial to our long-term success. That we with We are particularly pleased to be able to make a contribution to the new teaching not only internally but also in the industry,” explains Forster.
