The exceptional bonus of 6,000 euros for hiring a work-study student, on an apprenticeship or professionalization contract, will be maintained until the end of the five-year term. That is three, even four more years, since the decree published at the end of last year, which recalibrated its amount, set the deadline for December 31, 2023. Passed unnoticed on Thursday during the Galette de l’Elysée, this announcement Emmanuel Macron must help achieve the goal of 1 million apprenticeship contracts per year by 2027, the Ministry of Labor said in a statement on Friday.

At the end of the first confinement, the executive had switched the single aid which had prevailed until then to exceptional aid. As a reminder, this single aid was only paid to companies with less than 250 employees for diplomas up to the baccalaureate at the rate of the following scale: 4,125 euros maximum for the first year of performance of the contract; 2,000 euros and 1,200 euros the next two.

Half surprise

The exceptional aid that took over concerned all companies, regardless of the number of employees and the level of diploma prepared, up to 5,000 euros for the hiring of a minor, 8,000 beyond 18 years, for the first year of the contract. Renewed twice, this aid was revised to the tune of 6,000 euros on December 30, regardless of the age of the student, his diploma pursued or the workforce of the employer (under certain conditions beyond 250 employees). ).

The maintenance until the end of the five-year term is a half-surprise insofar as the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, and the Minister Delegate for Vocational Training, Carole Grandjean, had then indicated that this recalibration would be “permanent”.

“Better Anticipation”

“This renewed support will allow companies to anticipate better and, consequently, to facilitate the hiring of young people: more than 800,000 contracts have been signed this year and we continue to aim for 1 million apprentices per year for 2027”, they indicated this Friday in their press release.

The final figures for the 2022 campaign are not yet known, but the threshold of 800,000 will probably be well exceeded. The first estimates show a growth of around 10 to 15% compared to 2021, a record year with 730,000 private or public contracts. If confirmed, this estimate will however reflect a certain slowdown in the growth of work-study. For professionals in the sector, mainly training centres, the challenge now is to guarantee that quality will follow quantity.
