The government has decided to buy 70 thousand tons of fertilizer from Russia and Saudi Arabia. Among them, there are 40 thousand tons of DAP and 30 thousand tons of MOP fertilizer. The total cost will be 351 crore 25 lakh 75 thousand taka.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the purchase of fertilizers. He said that Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has approved the import of 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer in the third lot from Ma-Aden in Saudi Arabia under the state level agreement. The price of DAP fertilizer per tonne is USD 581. The total cost will be 2 crore 32 lakh 40 thousand US dollars. Its amount in Bangladeshi currency is Tk 255 crore 64 lakh. This proposal was brought by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Another proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture has approved the import of 30 thousand metric tons of murate-of-potash (MOP) fertilizer from Russia’s JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintorg’ under a state-level contract. The price of MOP fertilizer per ton is USD 289.75. According to this, the total cost will be 86 lakh 92 thousand 500 US dollars. Its amount in Bangladeshi currency is 95 crore 61 lakh 75 thousand taka.
