The government approved this morning (2/10/22) the proposed resolution that he initiated and promoted Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Mr. Gideon Sa’arwhich anchors the independence of the Authority for the Protection of Privacy in the Ministry of Justice.

The government’s decision establishes, among other things, the authority’s independent position in regards to the exercise of its powers according to law, and in fact clarifies that when exercising supervisory, enforcement and other powers granted by law to the head of the authority in relation to databases in the economy, the authority will act independently. Also, the decision enumerates the main functions of the authority, and defines the eligibility conditions for the position of head of the authority.
