The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved expenditure of Tk 1,923 crore 39 lakh 31 thousand 876 against eight proposals for purchase of lentils, fertilizers and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Out of this, lentils worth Tk 61 crore 74 lakh, LNG worth Tk 933 crore 94 lakh 6 thousand 876 and fertilizer worth Tk 927 crore 71 lakh 25 thousand will be purchased.
On Thursday (April 25) in the conference room of the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Law Minister Anisul Haque, the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement approved these eight procurement proposals. At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan informed this information.
In the meeting, it was approved for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) to purchase 6000 tons of lentils (50 kg bags) at Tk 61 crore 74 lakh through local open tender (national) system. These lentils will be purchased from Nabil Naba Foods Products Limited. The price of lentils per kg will be 102 taka 90 paisa.
In view of the proposal of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources in the meeting, the proposal to import two cargoes of LNG from the spot market under the ‘Increasing Rapid Supply of Electricity and Fuel (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act-2021’ has been approved. The total cost of importing these LNG from two companies in Singapore will be 933 crore 94 lakh 6 thousand 876 taka.
In this, one cargo of LNG from Singapore’s Gunavar Private Limited has been approved for Tk 469 crore 78 lakh 11 thousand 518. In this case, the price per MMBTU is fixed at 10.8637 USD. The previous purchase price per MMBTU was $9.4965.
In view of another proposal of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, an expenditure of Tk 464 crore 15 lakh 95 thousand 358 has been approved for the import of one cargo of LNG from Singapore’s Vital Asia Private Limited. In this case, the price per MMBTU is fixed at 10.7337 USD. The previous purchase price per MMBTU was $9.6800.
In view of the five separate proposals of the Ministry of Agriculture in the meeting, the import of fertilizer worth Tk 927 crore 71 lakh 25 thousand from Russia, China, Saudi Arabia and Morocco has been approved under the state level agreement. Among these, 120,000 tonnes of DAP from China and Saudi Arabia, 30,000 tonnes of TSP from Morocco and 30,000 metric tonnes of MOP fertilizer will be imported from Russia.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the import of 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer from Ma’aden in Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk 243 crore 76 lakh. The price will be USD 554 per tonne, which was USD 581 earlier.
Approval has been given to import 30 thousand metric tons of TSP fertilizer from Morocco’s OCP SA for Tk 125 crore 23 lakh 50 thousand. In this case, the cost of each ton of fertilizer will be 379.50 USD. Earlier it was 386 USD
Approval has been given to import 30 thousand metric tons of MOP fertilizer at 95 crore 61 lakh 75 thousand taka from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation of Russia. The price of fertilizer per ton will be 289.75 USD.
Besides, approval has been given to import a total of 80 thousand metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer from China’s Benyan International Trading Limited in view of two separate proposals. The price of DAP fertilizer per metric ton is fixed at USD 526.25. The total cost will be 463 crore 10 lakh taka.
