The Minister of Culture and Sports, Hili Troper, and the Minister of the Interior, Ayelet Shaked, agreed on an outline according to which 50 Ukrainian athletes will be able to enter Israel within the existing 5,000 quota, in order to continue the training routine and stay here safely. During the stay of the athletes in Israel, the Ministry of Sports in collaboration with the Wingate Institute will take care of both the various needs and the training routine.

As reported in ONE, in the last few days, three athletes from the Ukrainian fencing team have entered Israel, and later this week, another 16 athletes are expected to make up the entire team. The Ukrainian fencing team is expected to be joined by more Ukrainian athletes who will start training at the Wingate Institute. The Ministry of Sports will take care of the stay of the athletes as required.

As is well known, since the invasion of Russia there has been a war in Ukraine that has also affected the world of sports. Quite a few Ukrainian players and athletes enlisted in the local army to defend their homeland against the Russians, while others left in an attempt to continue living, at least for now, elsewhere.
