The spokesman for the La Rioja Executive, Álex Dorado, has specified, in the press conference after the Governing Council, that this agreement will have to be ratified soon with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.
This agreement includes the actions advanced by the presidents of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, and of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, on December 7 in San Millán de la Cogolla.
The agreement is endowed with 44.67 million euros, of which the Executive of La Rioja contributes 23.87 million and that of Spain the other 20.80 million, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the public business entity Red .es, from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The object of the agreement is to convert the Spanish language into a development tool in a digital and globalized scenario and to promote the new economy of the language, recalled Dorado.
To this end, it implements actions included in the Valle de la Lengua project and in the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) New Language Economy that share the objective of turning Spain and La Rioja into the epicenter of projects Spanish-based transformers.
These actions are structured in two large areas: promotion of the new economy of the language and promotion of science in Spanish.
In the first area, the Intelligence Center for the New Language Economy will be launched in La Rioja, which will be the infrastructure in charge of providing the vision and strategic knowledge necessary to promote the development of the new language economy and It will generate a public-private sector ecosystem in this field.
Within this framework, the data space of the new language economy will be created, which will cover in a comprehensive and coordinated manner all the areas directly or indirectly related to the new language economy and which will be structured in different verticals.
Based on the information collected in this data space, knowledge maps and artificial intelligence will be applied, Dorado has indicated.
Associated with this data space, an oral corpus will be created, that is, a large set of structured linguistic data in Spanish, an essential requirement to promote the new language economy and to enable the competitiveness of Spanish-based applications.
The agreement also integrates actions aimed at training professionals demanded by the new language economy, with an offer that is already under development with the University of La Rioja.
In terms of promoting science in Spanish, the largest scientific data space in Spanish will be built through a process of international expansion of Dialnet, which will evolve into Dialnet Global and consolidate its presence throughout the Spanish-speaking area.
This data space will have an advanced management system that will facilitate its analysis through services and advanced algorithms of semantic architecture and artificial intelligence; and a science portal will be created that will integrate the largest scientific data space in Spanish in the world and a remote research management system.
