The film has come up with the largest theatrical count ever for a Kannada film. Therefore, the film may set a record in the opening collection. According to trade analysts, James will surpass KGF Chapter 1, the biggest opening of a Kannada film. The film’s audience response is now starting to appear on Twitter.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted that James is a film that celebrates Puneet Rajkumar with all his glory. One can not ask for more than this. Action scenes that make Gravity look dull, his legendary dance moves, and mass dialogues for fans and other large audiences. Fans are celebrating every scene of him. In Karnataka, the usual big star films are released in 300-320 theaters while James will be screened in 450 screens in 380 theaters. The film has 2100 screenings on its first day in Karnataka alone. 200 shows in the morning alone. In other words, 10 lakh tickets for the film will be sold on the first day in Karnataka. Sandalwood also has no doubts about the audience response it may receive. This is because in Bangalore city alone, advance bookings of Rs 4 crore were made till last night. Today’s Bangalore collection is likely to reach 5 crore. The film also got good bookings in another major center, Mysore. 30,000 tickets were sold for 110 shows. The total advance booking in Karnataka is estimated at Rs 7.50-8 crore.

Written and directed by Chetan Kumar, the film stars Priya Anand, Anu Prabhakar Mukherjee, Srikanth Meka, Sarath Kumar, Harish Perady, Tilak Sekhar, Mukesh Rishi, Aditya Menon, Rangayana Raghu, Avinash, Sadhu Kokila, Chikanna and Suchendra Prasad.
