The leader of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, considered that April is alive and belongs to the people, in reaction to what were the April 25 celebrations, which took place in the Assembly of the Republic.
The PCP leader underlined that it is in April, and in its values, that the answer to the problems facing the population lies.
Paulo Raimundo stressed the importance of enforcing what is inscribed in the Constitution, namely the right to equality, the right to access to housing, health, dignity, and increased wages.
Regarding the silent protest of Chega, which took place during the welcoming session of the president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, in the Assembly of the Republic, the leader of the PCP said that he was not going to make comments and that Chega’s attitude “makes the people themselves responsible” ”, adding that “it is a little embarrassing”.
During Lula da Silva’s intervention, the members of Chega held up posters that said “no more corruption” and “a thief’s place is in prison”.
This stance by Chega was vehemently condemned by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, who said “no more insults, no more degrading institutions”.
