26 Avril 1932 : landing on the Chancerelles aerodrome, northern district of Port-au-Prince of the plane “Toussaint Louverture. On May 1, he graced the population of Jacmel who were then celebrating their patron saints with a moving spectacle.

26 avril 1963 : attempted kidnapping of Jean-Claude Duvalier. Attributed to forces hostile to his regime, François Duvalier unleashed a violent repression against those who had any reason to embark on such an adventure. Houses had been burned with their occupants, children kidnapped, entire families arrested, tortured, killed, disappeared.

26-avril 1986 : massacre of Fort Dimanche. During a demonstration in memory of the victims of the massacre of April 26, 1963, Wilson Auguste (18 years old), Fred Coriolan (27 years old), Wilson Micaisse (16 years old), Yves Erié (29 years old), Jakson Row (29 years old) found the death, not far from Fort Dimanche, nicknamed “Fort La mort” because of the many people who were tortured and murdered there under the Duvalier dictatorship.

A decree published on April 21, 2015 in the official journal “ The monitor », dedicates April 26 as “National Day of Remembrance in memory of the victims of Fort Dimanche”.
