Apsite, the season leader of European U-18 athletes, made the longest jump in the last attempt, before jumping 12.58, 13.03, 12.96, 13.11 and 12.91 meters.

Greek athlete Melina Zaragka took second place with a result of 13.10 meters in the second attempt, while Italian Eliza Valenti was third with 12.99 meters in the first attempt.

It has already been reported that on Thursday, Apsite jumped 12.98 meters in the first attempt and took second place in group A, securing a place in the main competition.

The Latvian Athletics Union reports that in the history of four European youth championships, Apsīte’s gold medal is only the second for Latvia. In 2016, javelin thrower Kristaps Jaunpujens became the European U-18 champion.

Emils Lamba entered the final in 400 meters. He finished third in the semi-finals with a new Latvian U-18 record of 47.54 seconds and, reaching the sixth fastest time, entered the finals, which will take place on Saturday.

The two fastest runners of the three races qualified for the finals, as well as two more with the best results.

On the second day of the heptathlon long jump, Ariadna Reitmane achieved a result of 5.22 meters, taking 23rd place, while Nikola Bunde remained without a result.

She threw Reitman’s javelin 37.72 meters, and Bunde – 37.03 meters, achieving the 11th and 12th best results in the discipline.

In the 800 meter race, Reitmane took 22nd place with a result of two minutes and 35.24 seconds, while Bunde ranked immediately behind her with a result of two minutes and 36.13 seconds.

In the sum of seven disciplines, Reitmane collected 4841 points and took 22nd place, while Bunde was 25th with 4555 points.

Finland’s Enni Virjonen became the champion with the best result of the world U-18 season 6151 points, the second with a personal record of 5807 points was British all-rounder Thea Brown, and the third with a personal record of 5732 points – German Maria Schnemilich.

Pole vaulter Nikola Trasune cleared 3.75 meters in her second attempt and took 15th place in the competition of 26 pole vaulters.

Ten female pole vaulters who jumped over a bar placed at a height of 3.85 meters qualified for the main competition, as well as four more athletes who jumped 3.75 meters in the first attempt.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Ksenia Kozlova finished fifth in her preliminaries with a time of one minute and 2.08 seconds and qualified for the semi-finals with the 23rd best time.

Scarlett Terezija Viľele was sixth in her run with a result of one minute and 3.53 seconds, not qualifying for the semi-finals and taking 30th place in the competition of 40 participants.

The four fastest runners of each race and the authors of the four fastest results made it to the semi-finals.

For men, Toms Melderis was fifth in his race with a new personal record of 54.42 seconds and entered the semi-finals with the 23rd best result. Emil Sandler-Bomis was sixth in the race with a result of 55.91 seconds, ranking 34th among 46 runners.

The three fastest runners of each race and the authors of the six fastest results made it to the semi-finals.

Beāte Buka achieved a result of 24.76 seconds in the 200-meter preliminaries, finished third and entered the semi-finals. Wendy Mauriņa was fourth with a new personal record of 24.57 seconds, but she will also compete in the semi-finals, achieving the 17th fastest time, while Buka had the 24th fastest time in the competition of 42 sprinters.

The winners of the first three places in each race and the authors of the six best results entered the semi-finals.

For men, in this distance, Agris Rudolfs Rencis achieved a result of 22.33 seconds and ranked 37th in the competition of 49 runners, not making it to the semi-finals.

Daniels Giedris took 23rd place in the high jump with a result of 1.97 meters in the competition of 30 participants and did not qualify for the main competition.

Rūdolfs Vanadziņš achieved a result of one minute and 55.46 seconds in the 800-meter preliminaries, taking the fifth place, but did not qualify for the semi-finals, taking the 28th place among 44 participants.

In the 2000-meter steeplechase, Ralf Dzosen finished 13th in his preliminary race with a time of six minutes and 4.14, taking 22nd place in the competition of 35 athletes, while Emil Matias Reinfeld was 16th in the race with a time of six minutes and 13.85 seconds, in both races taking the 32nd place.

Eight athletes from each race made it to the finals.

18 athletes represent Latvia in Gēra.

The European U-18 Championship will end on Sunday.
