Aqila: What the parliament approved is not an end to the political agreement, but to the executive authority

by times news cr

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, said that what was approved by Parliament does not constitute an end to the political agreement, but rather that the executive authority has ended its term, which it brought in during the preliminary phase and was set at 18 months.

Aqila added in a statement to his media office that the executive body did not provide anything that was assigned to it, and failed to perform its duties, referring to the decision to replace it in search of change for the better in a way that serves the interests of the nation and the citizen, according to his expression.

In the session of August 13, Aguila decided to withdraw the title of Supreme Commander of the Army from the Presidential Council and grant it to the Speaker of the House of Representatives in accordance with the Constitutional Declaration.

He also announced the suspension of the Geneva political agreement and the end of the term of the executive authority in Tripoli, which came in the preliminary phase.

In return, the Government of National Unity responded that it derives its legitimacy from the Libyan Political Agreement included in the Constitutional Declaration.

In a statement, it stressed its full commitment to the outcomes of the Constitutional Declaration, which stipulates the necessity of holding presidential and legislative elections to end the long transitional phase, noting that the decisions of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, are repetitive in form and content and are not serious.
