Actor Ajith Kumar is one of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema. After actor Vijay, Thala Ajith is the leading man to give a blockbuster hit in Tamil. Directors have to be very careful while making movies with such big heroes.
That too a small mistake made by budding directors and big stars can affect their film career. Director AR Murugadoss too had a similar incident when he was growing up.
Murugadoss is now one of the great directors in Tamil cinema but in 2004 he was still an emerging director. It was then that Ghajini wrote the screenplay for the film. He had already told the story of this film to actor Ajith.
Ajith liked the story and agreed to act. Meanwhile, Surya, who heard this story, was also impressed by this story. Suriya asks Murugadoss about this and Murugadoss commits Suriya without asking Ajith about this and finishes directing the film.
After this, AR Murugadoss got an opportunity to direct another film starring Ajith. He asked for a salary of Rs 1 crore for that film. Ajith came to know about this and dropped Murugadoss from the film citing salary.
It is noteworthy that Murugadoss has not directed a film with Ajith till now after this incident!
