During this meeting, in which Morocco was represented by a delegation chaired by the Kingdom’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Ait Ouali, the Council adopted a draft resolution on the Arab strategy for lifelong learning.
In this regard, the Council decided to instruct the General Secretariat of the Arab League to coordinate with Morocco, as the initiator of the draft of this resolution, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and the Union of Arab Universities (UUA), in order to prepare the draft of the Arab strategy for lifelong learning with a view to its communication to Member States, with a view to its presentation to the Economic and Social Council at its next session.
The Council also adopted a draft resolution on the Kingdom’s experience in the postal sector, and decided to express its thanks to Morocco for the action plan and its experience with the Universal Postal Union’s integrated postal development index in 2023. In this context, the General Secretariat of the Arab League called for the generalization of this experience in Arab countries.
He also called on Arab countries, if they so wish, to benefit from the training organized by Barid Al Maghrib in coordination with the Universal Postal Union in the field of postal security, international crimes in intellectual property matters and dangerous goods transported by mail.
The latest draft resolution adopted by the Council concerns the role of social support in achieving equity and equal opportunities in learning. In this context, the Council decided to forward the proposal to the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs for consideration and decision in this regard, while presenting the topic to the Economic and Social Council at its next session.
The agenda of this session includes following up on the implementation of the decisions of the previous session, the activities of the General Secretariat between the 113th and 114th sessions of the Council, the economic and social file of the Council of the League of Arab States during the upcoming Summit in Iraq, as well as several development projects such as the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) and the Arab Customs Union.
Several topics will also be discussed during this meeting, including investment in Arab countries, the Moroccan experience in the postal sector, the “MADAK” space initiative, support mechanisms for the Palestinian economy, as well as the unified Arab speech for the joint annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).
The meeting will also discuss the reports of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, the Arab Strategy for Lifelong Learning, the Arab Decade for Literacy and Adult Education for the period 2025-2034, the “Culture and Green Future” initiative, the establishment of the Arab Medicines Agency, as well as the role of social support in education, equity and equal opportunities.
Morocco is represented at this 114th session by a delegation chaired by the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Ait Ouali, and including the Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mustapha Jlok, the Director of Non-Formal Education at the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Hssain Oujour, the Director in charge of Social Support at the same ministry, Abdeljalil Benzouina and the Head of the Department of Relations with the Arab and Islamic World at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Abdessamad El Hamraoui.
