Morocco was represented at this meeting by Mohamed Bakouri, president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group in the House of Advisors and of the Economic Commission in the Arab Parliament.

Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Arab Parliament, Adel ben Abderrahman Al-Assoumi, reviewed current issues and the latest developments in the region, particularly in Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, and Libya.

Mr. Al-Assoumi recalled the efforts made during the previous session, which helped strengthen the role of the Arab Parliament, as a lever promoting the consolidation of joint action, an effective partner serving the higher interests of Arab countries, and a complementary ally to official diplomacy.

Convinced of the importance of complementarity between official and parliamentary diplomacy in the service of the interests of the people, this institution ensures to support all the efforts deployed by Arab leaders to defend Arab causes, he noted.

The agenda of this session includes the consideration of the reports of the four standing committees, namely the Foreign, Political and National Security Committee, the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Committee, the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee, as well as the report of the Palestine Committee which deals with the significant developments in Palestine and the efforts made to end the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The meeting’s agenda also includes reviewing draft resolutions and laws submitted by parliamentary committees following their preparatory meetings for the session, with the aim of following up on all political events and developments in Arab countries during the year.
