In a speech on behalf of the Moroccan delegation, the first vice-president of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Sibari, highlighted the initiatives of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, aimed at safeguarding the cultural identity of the City holy city and to support the resistance of the Palestinian people to attempts to modify the status of the holy city and the demographic balance in the Palestinian territories.
“Peace and coexistence have been and will remain one of the components of the doctrine of Moroccan diplomacy, under the leadership of HM the King,” noted Mr. Sibari, reiterating Morocco’s constant and historical positions in favor of peace. Palestinian cause and the efforts made by HM the King, President of the Al Quds Committee, to preserve the legal status and the historical and civilizational character of the Holy City.
In this sense, he recalled the Royal Speech addressed to the 33rd Summit of the League of Arab States held in Manama, in which the Sovereign stressed that “in these difficult times that the Palestinian question is going through following Israeli aggression blatant attack against the Gaza Strip, We are only more determined to keep the Palestinian Cause at the center of any action aimed at establishing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East region.
Mr. Sibari affirmed that the Palestinian people have been fighting for decades against “the historical injustice done to them, and that today they are shedding their blood to obtain their inalienable and non-negotiable rights”.
In addition, he emphasized the repercussions of the current situation in the Arab world regarding the positioning of the Arab group on the international scene and its impact on the Palestinian cause, to the extent that the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip suffers greatly from Israeli aggression, regretting the inaction of the international community, in particular, the forces that influence international resolutions, to end Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
And to call for mobilizing the necessary political support for the Palestinian cause by unifying the Arab position and building an Arab environment and inter-Arab relations based on mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of States, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.
Mr. Sibari also insisted on the need to act at the level of regional and international parliamentary forums to put an end to the aggression, lift the siege imposed on the Palestinian people and mobilize parliamentary support to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
The head of the Moroccan delegation also addressed the major challenges facing the Arab world, in particular the attempts to divide certain Arab countries, the rise of terrorism, the increase in waves of migration and asylum, as well as the effects of climate change and drought.
Furthermore, he called for a radical renewal of the working methods of the institutions of joint Arab action, as well as the Arab Legislative Councils, so that they can demonstrate creativity in developing effective solutions in order to exploit our abilities, our wealth and our heritage to achieve the expected progress”.
The Moroccan Parliament is taking part in the work of the 34th session of the Executive Committee and the 36th Congress of the Arab Parliamentary Union (UPA), which are being held from May 25 to 27 in Algiers, with the participation of presidents and heads of delegation of Arab parliaments, and in the presence of representatives of Arab, regional and international organizations.
The Moroccan Parliament is represented at Congress by a delegation from the national parliamentary section, led by Mohamed Sibari, first vice-president of the House of Representatives, and including deputies Fatima Khair and Hafid Ouachak (National Rally of Independents group), Abderrazak Ahlouch (Istiqlalien group of unity and egalitarianism), Faiçal Zerhouni (democratic and social constitutional group), and the members of the House of Councilors Cheikh Ahmadou Adabda (Authenticity and Modernity group) and Abdellatif Moustakim, president of the group of the General Union of Moroccan Workers.
The members of the section participated in the 34th session of the executive committee of the UPA, as well as in the meetings of the standing committees, namely the Palestine committee, the political affairs and parliamentary relations committee and the affairs committee. social, women, children and youth.
In addition to examining the reports of previous sessions and the activities of the General Secretariat since the 35th Congress, the current session will look into the current challenges facing the Arab region, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip.
