Arab Women Investors Union discusses cooperation opportunities between Libya and Egypt

The Arab Women Investors Union, headed by Hoda Yassa, held a meeting with the Libyan-Egyptian Businessmen Council at the Union’s headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of Mukhtar Al-Qala’i, Vice President of the Council, in order to activate the joint cooperation agreement.

The meeting discussed opportunities for joint investment and trade cooperation during the coming period, and the participation of Egyptian companies in the reconstruction operations in Libya, the first phase of which is estimated at total investments of about 120 billion dollars.

Hoda Yassin pointed out the depth and importance of Egyptian-Libyan relations, explaining that there are many real areas and opportunities that could represent a new starting point between the two great countries.

She announced that the Arab Women Investors Union will be one of the sponsors of the “Made in Egypt” exhibition, which is being established for the first time in the sisterly state of Libya in the city of Tripoli, and is expected to be held in the period from September 21 to 24 of the current year 2024.

A large number of companies will participate in various fields, including: environmentally friendly industrial detergents, clothing, paints, leather products, wood, building and construction materials, and others.

Hoda Yassine stressed the availability of Egyptian expertise in many fields, most notably construction and development, which can be provided to the Libyan side during reconstruction and rebuilding projects.

She shed light on the advantages and investment opportunities in Egypt, the attractive investment climate, and the investments available in giant national projects, including the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the New Alamein City, and others.

The mechanisms for increasing trade, industrial, agricultural, tourism, information technology and various other areas of cooperation were also discussed, as well as activating joint investment projects, developing and enhancing capabilities and increasing communication and networking between the two parties, and benefiting from the support provided by the Ministry of Finance, through the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry and the Union.

The President of the Arab Women Investors Union invited the delegation of the Libyan-Egyptian Businessmen Council to attend and participate in the 27th session of the Union’s conference, the “Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation” Summit in Aswan Governorate, held during the period from November 11 to 15 of this year, to conclude partnerships and agreements with delegations of participating countries from Arab, African and international countries.

The union members presented their activities in various fields to establish commercial partnerships in export, import and joint projects with Libyan companies.

For his part, Mokhtar Al-Qala’i discussed the arrangements for a business trip for members of the Arab Women Investors Union to Libya during the coming period to learn about trade exchange opportunities and increase investment movement between Egypt and Libya.

He stressed the importance of working to develop trade exchange and open the Libyan market to products of the member states of the Union, as well as exporting Libyan products to the markets of Arab and African countries, with the exchange of information and studies conducted by the two parties in a way that serves and supports the interests of both parties and the availability of all data related to the various tenders in the Libyan market to increase opportunities for joint cooperation.
