Sharjah: The ruler of Sharjah has requested the UAE Ministry of Education to reconsider its decision to make language studies a part of Islamic and social studies instead of preparing special curriculum and books for learning Arabic. He also pointed out that Arabic language learning is a basic subject even in institutions that follow foreign curriculum. He also highlighted that there are linguists in the UAE who can develop the Arabic curriculum for schools in order to impart the Arabic language to the future generations.

Sultan’s response during the radio program

Arabic requires special books

The new method introduced by the UAE Ministry of Education is to provide an opportunity to learn Arabic by avoiding special language books and teaching books of other subjects. However, the ruler of Sharjah is of the opinion that by making Arabic the medium of study, it is sufficient to learn other subjects, but it is not possible to acquire the Arabic language. He has made it clear that language books containing stories, poems, prose, poetry and grammar are required for language learning to be complete.
