Arch. Julio Nájera presented his book “El Teatro de Santa Ana” at Casino Santaneco

One of the cultural activities that the Casino Santaneco board of directors carried out in June was the presentation of the book “Teatro de Santa Ana” by the renowned architect Julio Nájera, director of the UNICAES Architectural Design Unit. The book is a document that everyone should have. Its hardcover presentation with a beautiful image of the theater, printed on glossy paper, is written with precision details and photographs that transport us to the time and place.

With a masterful presentation of its content, the architect held the audience captive. In his narrative he tells us the most relevant events from the founding of Santa Ana until the construction of the theater, where he goes into more detail about the characters of that moment, who left a legacy of beautiful buildings from that golden age between including the Santa Ana Theater which, together with the cathedral, the city hall and the Santaneco casino, crown the city with the most beautiful historic center in Central America.

Julio Nájera as a historian has been able to summarize and tell that story in great detail and in simple language, since the Teatro de Santa Ana, pride of El Salvador, was abandoned in the 50’s, and it was not until the 80’s. It is that having formed a group of Santa Ana as the Santa Ana Cultural Heritage Association, began its restoration that lasted more than 20 years and of which he was part of volunteering as a member of the board of directors, an expert in architecture to return its strength and splendor.

The architect Najera has also written another book: “The Cathedral of Santa Ana”, for which in 2019 he received the CADER Presidential Medal from the College of Architects of El Salvador, during the celebration of the “Convergent” Architect Week. Another documentary rich in content due to its details and photographs that delights the palate of knowledge.

We must also congratulate Dr. Montes, Ramon Francia, lovers of history, as well as the president of Casino Santaneco Mirna de Pimentel and other members of the Board of Directors for their commitment and effort to keep the history of Santa Ana alive, so rich in events, where a cultured society flourished, the cradle of great characters in the history of El Salvador.
