Experts discovered a tunnel while searching for the tomb of the ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra. Researchers who have studied it have described it as a giant geometric wonder. It is an ancient tunnel but the purpose of its creation is not known till date. It has become a source of interest among researchers.

The study was led by Kathleen Martinez of the University of Santo Domingo. The tunnel is about 1305 meters long and is located under the temple. Carved out of sandstone, the tunnel resembles the famous Eupalinos tunnel on the Greek island of Samos. Eubalenos tunnel in B.C. Built in the 6th century. It is renowned for its excellent engineering design.

The researchers suggest that the Daposiris Magna tunnel contains the constructional structures of Eupanalinos. And parts of it are submerged, like the Eupanalinos Tunnel. But the problem is that the purpose of this tunnel is not known.

Although the search for Cleopatra’s tomb has been ongoing since 2004, Martinez believes the tunnel is a great find. Built around 230 BC, the temple is dedicated to the gods Azoris and Isis, associated with Cleopatra. This temple is still not fully visible. Because part of it lies in the Mediterranean Sea. Between 320 and 1303 AD most of its parts were destroyed by waves.

It is noteworthy that the tunnels between Lake Marywood and the Mediterranean Sea are being searched to find out whether Cleopatra’s tomb is located in these tunnels.
