The youngest member of the national archery team, Nam Su-hyeon (19? Suncheon City Hall), defeated the winner of last year’s World Archery Championships and advanced to the round of 16 in the women’s individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On the 31st (Korean time), Nam Su-hyeon defeated Marie Horacicova (Czech Republic) 7-3 in the round of 32 of the women’s individual archery event held at Les Invalides in Paris, France.

Nam Su-hyeon, who advanced to the round of 16, will face Madalina Amaistroae (Romania) on August 3rd at 6:01 PM to advance to the quarterfinals.

Nam Su-hyeon, who stepped onto the Olympic stage for the first time in her life, showed good condition by recording 2nd place in the ranking round, following teammate Im Si-hyeon (21, Korea National Sport University).

Then, in the women’s team event, she dispelled concerns about her ‘lack of experience’ and gained confidence by winning the gold medal with her sisters.

After taking a two-day break after winning the team event, Nam Su-hyeon returned to the ring and gained momentum by beating Jana Ali (Egypt) 7-1 in the round of 64.

In the round of 32, she faced her ‘tough rival’ Horachkova, who won the World Championship last year, and won after a close match that went to the fifth set.

Nam Su-hyun scored 28 points in the first set, tying with Horachkova, and each shared one point. In the second set, Nam Su-hyun scored 27 points, beating Horachkova, who scored 24 points, and took a 3-1 lead.

After that, in the 3rd and 4th sets, the two teams won 1 point each, and in the match that continued to the 5th set, Nam Su-hyeon tied two 9-point and 10-point sets at the end, scoring 29 points to finish the match.
