Dhe TV news program “Nachtmagazin” on ARD will be replaced next year by a “Tagesschau” edition. The head of division II in the program management, Frank Beckmann, announced the change on Friday at the broadcasting council meeting of the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR) in Hamburg.
Like “Tagesschau” and “Tagesthemen”, “Nachtmagazin” is part of the portfolio of the ARD community facility ARD-aktuell on the NDR site in Hamburg. Beckmann said that the change also aims to strengthen the “Tagesschau” brand.
This was confirmed by the first editor-in-chief of ARD-aktuell, Marcus Bornheim, and added: “That’s why from 2023 we will always be focusing on editions under this name at night.” Viewers received the latest information under a fixed title. In addition, the offer of the news channel Tagesschau24 in the late evening will also be strengthened and ARD’s willingness to break news will be improved.
The “Nachtmagazin” has been broadcast since 1995. The program can be seen in the first and on Tagesschau24. In the future, the “Tagesschau” episode will also be shown there at night.
