Actresses who went to a popular movie promotion in Kozhikode recently reported that they were sexually harassed by members of the public on their social media pages.
The incident took place on Tuesday night at a popular mall in Kozhikode, Kerala. The videos about it went viral on the internet and the news about it was broadcasted on television. In her Instagram post, the affected actress said, “Kozhikode is the place I love the most. But tonight, on the way back from the show, a person in the crowd grabbed me. This is embarrassing to say.
Are the people around us so desperate? We have gone to many places for promotion. But never had such a bad experience anywhere. My companion had a similar experience. He reacted to it. But in that situation I became motionless for a few seconds and could not do anything,” he said.
Another actress who was sexually harassed in the crowd also shared her bad experience on Instagram. The mall was crowded. Security personnel were unable to control the crowd. A person misbehaved with my co-actress. But he mentioned that he could not react at that place.
And, “After that I had a similar experience. But I have reacted…I want no one to go through such unnecessary trauma in their life,” he said. He also said that he wanted the culprit to be punished.
The police said that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify the actresses who harassed them.
