Broadcaster Noh Hong-chul had an absurd experience when he changed seats on a plane when a woman asked him to, but ended up sitting in a narrower seat than before.
On the 20th, Noh Hong-chul uploaded a video on his YouTube channel about his visit to Milan, Italy to watch the Formula One (F1) international car racing competition.
Noh Hong-chul, whose departure flight was delayed, said in the video, “I was about to sit down, thinking, ‘Once I get on the plane, I’ll have a comfortable ten-hour flight,’ but the woman next to me suddenly asked me to change seats.”
In the footage of the scene, a woman whom Noh Hong-chul called “Auntie” asked Noh Hong-chul to change seats, saying, “Excuse me, aren’t you a celebrity? My husband and I broke up, and we’re sitting in front of you, so please, just for a moment.”
Noh Hong-chul readily accepted the request, saying, “Shall I change seats?” and “Of course,” but it turned out that the woman’s previous seat was narrower than Noh Hong-chul’s.
Noh Hong-chul, who is usually known for his positive mindset, tried to laugh it off, saying, “I’m looking forward to this trip. Before something good happens, there are always some dark clouds, but when these clouds build up, the main event becomes very interesting.”
However, the subtitles stated that the ‘cloudy situation’ meant flight delays and seat changes.
Netizens who came across the story left critical comments such as, “They asked if she was a celebrity on purpose so they could make her change it,” “Did she plan on posting about it on the internet if she didn’t change it?” and “Isn’t it common sense for them to move to a more uncomfortable place and sit next to each other?”
As the controversy grew, Noh Hong-chul deleted the scene.
