THE ECO + With energy prices soaring, photovoltaics are attracting more and more individuals. But this option is not suitable for all housing… and all households. How do you know if this is an interesting solution for you? Le Figaro enlightens you.

Solar panels are popping up on the roofs of private homes. 2023 was the year of all records, with 140% growth in the residential photovoltaic market. The French are rushing towards this solution which allows them to produce on average 30 to 40% of the electricity they consume. Self-consumption is becoming a way to combat inflation in electricity prices. The good one is spectacular. Last year 200,000 new installations were built, or 800 megawatts of installed power. Between 550,000 and 600,000 homes are now equipped, according to EDF ENR. There were only 80,000 in 2022.

Producing your own electricity can be a dream at a time when the price of electricity continues to rise. After the increase of 4% in 2022, of 26.5% last year, a further increase of maximum 10% is expected. But is the game worth it? How do you know if installing photovoltaic panels is relevant? And if so, how to choose your installation, should you call on a professional or not?
