Argentina national team: the superstition of de Paul, Gomes and Paredes

Much has been said, said and written about superstitions and recurring customs of football players and fans. This is surely the explanation why those who follow religiously, have been seeing a regular spectacle before Argentina games for quite some time now.

Before every game of the Argentina national team (in which they are present) Rodrigo de Paul, Andrew Paredes and Papo Gomes arrive on the field – before the players go up to warm up – they do a walk around the middle circle area, wave to the fans who have already entered the stadium, eat fruit and walk slowly back to the dressing room.

In every game, in every frame, in every field. In the World Cup qualifiers in the South American region, in Finalsima against Italy and also in the 2022 World Cup. Always at the same pace, always with hands clasped while holding fruit.

Argentina will play the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup on Friday at 21:00. If she wins, she will meet the winner of the match between Brazil and Croatia in the semi-finals.
