An Ariane launch vehicle with the James Webb telescope on board was launched from the launch site in French Guiana. The telescope was created by the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency, it will search for the first galaxies in the early universe, explore the solar system and exoplanets, according to the NASA website.

The James Webb Space Telescope was launched from the European launch site on the northeastern coast of South America on December 25 at 7.20 a.m.

NASA calls the telescope “the largest and most complex in the world” and will begin work in space in six months. The telescope will go through the most difficult deployment sequence, said space telescope mission chief Gregory Robinson.

“Upon completion of commissioning, we will see impressive images that will boggle our imaginations,” said Robinson.

The rocket launch was broadcast by Arianespace. Previously it was assumed that it will happen on December 18, but the launch was postponed due to problems with communication between the observatory and the launch vehicle, and then it was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
