Armand Duplantis Defends ‍Gold ⁢and Improves World ‍Record in Pole Vault

Armand Duplantis ​secured his second consecutive gold medal ‍in the‌ pole vault final at the Paris Olympics on Monday, while also‌ etching his name‌ deeper into history with‌ a world record-breaking performance.

The⁣ Swedish star dominated the competition, effortlessly clearing ⁢6.00 meters on his first attempt to claim first‍ place. He then proceeded to‌ clear ⁣6.10 and 6.25 ⁢meters, the latter surpassing his previous world record by one centimeter.

Despite⁢ his dominance, Duplantis needed three attempts to clear​ 6.25 meters, showcasing ‍the immense ‌pressure he faced in attempting to ​break his⁢ own record.

While Guttormsen finished in eighth place, his fellow countryman Sam Kendricks secured silver with ⁢a jump ​of 5.95 meters. Emmanouil Karalis claimed bronze with 5.90 meters.

Guttormsen,⁤ who had qualified‌ for the⁤ final by clearing 5.75 meters, struggled with injuries‌ throughout the competition. He failed to clear 5.70 ‍meters‌ on ⁤his first two attempts, ultimately settling for eighth place.
