Armenia has constantly violated the requirements of existing international conventions.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to Trend, this was stated by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev during the scientific and practical conference on the topic “Environmental water violations contributing to climate change”, held today in Nakhchivan.

“Armenia has constantly violated the requirements of existing international conventions. Armenia has grossly violated the 1991 UN Convention (ESPO) on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context, the 1992 UN Convention on the Protection and Use of Watercourses and International Lakes Crossing Borders, as well as the obligations arising from the protocols of this convention on water and health of June 17, 1999,” added K. Aliyev.

Noting that one of the bitter consequences of the occupation policy pursued by Armenia against Azerbaijan is the deterioration of the country’s water resources, the Prosecutor General emphasized that as a result, the Azerbaijani population has been deprived of the rich water resources of Eastern Zangezur for years.
