Armenia’s economic growth potential is currently estimated at 5.5 percent, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan said in the National Assembly.

Artur Khachatryan, deputy of the “Hayastan” faction, noted that the majority of factors contributing to economic growth are external. “If we try to filter the internal and external factors that affect the economic growth, if we average the external economic conditions, what would be our economic growth for the last 5 years?” asked the deputy.

The finance minister also said that the economic growth potential of the Republic of Armenia is 5.5 percent.

“The capital investments we make depend on this potential. The magnitude of that potential depends on investments, the diversification of our economy and the reforms we are implementing,” Hovhannisyan noted, adding that the main effort of the government should be aimed at increasing that potential.

What part of the growth is due to external factors, the minister responded. “If we proceed from this thesis, we can say that external factors contributed to the other side.”
