Armenia’s inflation in conditions of high unemployment is a social disaster, said economist Suren Parsyan.

“When the representatives of the government compare the inflation of Armenia and EAEU countries, emphasizing our “advantage”, in order to correctly and fairly assess the socio-economic situation, they must also address the level of unemployment.

Unfortunately, Armenia’s inflation is the worst among EAEU countries compared to the unemployment rate. In particular, in April 2022, inflation in Armenia was 8.4 percent, and the unemployment rate was 13.2 percent.

Inflation in Belarus was 16.8 percent, and the unemployment rate was 0.2 percent.

Inflation in Russia was 17.8 percent and the unemployment rate was 0.9 percent, Kazakhstan’s inflation was 13.2 percent and the unemployment rate was 2.1 percent, Kyrgyzstan’s inflation was 14.5 percent and the unemployment rate was 3 percent.

In other words, it is extremely difficult for an ordinary citizen to overcome inflation in the conditions of unemployment,” the economist wrote on his Facebook page.
