“Arms Exchange 2024” concludes successfully; Mexicans deliver more than 1,300 firearms

The program “Arms Exchange 2024” promoted by the Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gomez Alvarezexceeded expectations and historically concluded just nine weeks of the 12 scheduled, by giving citizens almost 5 million pesos in that period, which represents 32 percent more than what was delivered in 2023.

The Secretariats of Edomex Security (SSEM), of the National defense (Sedena) and city councils, carried out this program whose purpose is to address the causes of crime, remove Mexican homes risk objects and build peaceful environments.

Since its launch, from August 19 to October 19, the program was carried out in 32 municipalities where the destruction of 1,358 firearms was achieved, of these 1,164 were short and 194 were long; as well as 840 grenades and 30,745 cartridges of different calibers.

With this, the citizens who attended anonymously were given the amount of 4 million 995 thousand 509 pesos.

It is important to note that compared to last year’s edition, 131 percent more weapons for exclusive use of the army were exchanged, 105 percent more grenades and 15 percent more cartridges.

From October 14 to 19, what was considered the last week, the municipalities of Lerma, Ixtlahuaca, Zumpango and Nezahualcóyotl were visited; In these demarcations the sum of 871 thousand 110 pesos was exchanged.

The municipalities of Atizapán de Zaragoza, Tlalnepantla, Atlacomulco and Tultitlán generated a significant increase in money delivery of 63, 583, 599 and 230 percent, respectively.

Likewise, in Temoaya, Amecameca, Tenancingo and Texcoco they added the amount of 380,836 pesos to the program for the benefit of citizens; these demarcations were not contemplated last year.

The Government of State of Mexico thanks the population for their interest in joining this visionary program that seeks to build peace in the entity.
