Eduardo Chozas is one of the most important cyclists in Spain in its history, highlighting his stage victories in Giro and Tour during the 80s and 90s. That makes him the protagonist of a dark era of cycling, but at the same time, a voice authorized to comment.

With that in mind, his remarks to Jot Down are very interesting. The note is extensive and it is worth reading it on the aforementioned portal, but here we will refer to a subject that we always mention from this writing: the hypocrisy of cycling.

More precisely, Chozas alluded to the Tours that were taken from Armstrong. “Armstrong’s Tours that he won on the same terms as the others would give to Armstrong, why take them away? There has never been reliable proof of his doping, no more than the rest, and in the end the podiums have been left empty. It seems somewhat hypocritical to me, but hey, it’s over, it’s already been detected… Now, there will be other things that are not detected, but perhaps they won’t have as much influence as that time, ”he opined.

“It’s going to be a race for life. Some go ahead and others try to catch up with them. It happens in all sports: if we compare it to Formula One, you are limited by the engines and then you have to alter the wing to be able to maintain that advantage and it is a bit of everything like that. They set a standard for us and everyone goes to the limit. The one who passes it, they sanction him and that’s it, ”he continued.

Additionally, Chozas spoke of what is known as the EPO era, in which he decided to leave and others such as Indurain shone. “Those were horrible times, not just in cycling. It had a huge impact on performance and no one could detect what was happening. It turned into a medical career,” he expressed.

Also, point out that Manolo Saíz picked up the glove on social networks and announced that he will answer some questions later.
