President Md. Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman met Sahabuddin.

During a meeting at Bangabhaban on Tuesday (July 23), the army chief apprised the President about the prevailing situation in the country and the activities of the army. Later, the President’s press secretary briefed on the matter.

During the meeting, the army chief said that 27,000 troops have been deployed in 57 districts of the country including Dhaka.

He said that the army personnel are cooperating with the civil administration to maintain law and order in the country and ensure the safety of life and property.

He said that the army personnel will remain in the field as long as necessary to normalize the law and order situation.

The President condemned the destructive activities in various important structures including Bangladesh Television, Metro Rail, Setu Bhavan.

The President said that the anti-independence group wanted to destroy the development of the country along with their nefarious interests through this destruction.

He said that the armed forces formed through the liberation war have been playing an important role in protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country.

President Sahabuddin said that the army has been able to gain the trust of the people by performing its duties during the transitional period of the country. He thanked the government for taking a timely decision to deploy troops to normalize the situation in the country.
The head of state expressed hope that the overall situation of the country will be normalized with law and order very soon and the country will move forward.
