Yesterday afternoon, troops from the 11th Cacique Nutibara Infantry Battalion were attacked by members of the Southwestern Antioquia substructure of the Clan del Golfo in the municipality of Pueblorrico, Antioquia.
The soldiers, who were conducting a search during military operations, were surprised by gunfire which triggered an encounter.
During the confrontation, First Corporal Jhony Ederzon Vidal León lost his life, and a rifle was stolen by the attackers.Following the unfortunate incident, the military unit’s operations officer went to the scene together with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances of the attack and begin the corresponding inquiries.

In response to the events, the Public Force activated the lockout plan with the aim of locating those responsible for the murder and the theft of the weapon.
The community and the military forces mourned this loss and express their deepest condolences to the family of Corporal Vidal León.
“We condemn the murder of First Corporal of the Army, Jhony Ederzon Vidal León, attacked by members of the Clan del Golfo in Pueblorrico, Antioquia, who stole his rifle in the midst of the fighting. We accompany his family and loved ones in this difficult moment and we honor his memory today and always. Military operations continue in southwestern Antioquia to find those responsible for the murder,” the Ministry of Defense stated.
