Army deployed in 6 districts to rescue flood victims

As the flood situation worsened in the North-Eastern and South-Eastern regions, the army has been deployed to rescue flood victims in Mirsarai in Chittagong, Burichong in Comilla, Akhaura in Brakshanbaria, Shaestaganj in Habiganj and Kulaura in Moulvibazar.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed this information in a press release on Thursday.

It was informed that the soldiers of Bangladesh Army’s 17th Infantry Division, 24th Infantry Division and 33th Infantry Division are deployed in their respective responsible areas and are relentlessly conducting rescue operations to evacuate people trapped in water to a safe place. Apart from this, 5 army medical teams have been deployed in Feni, Chittagong, Moulvibazar and Habiganj for medical assistance.

Since Wednesday, soldiers of Bangladesh Army’s 33 infantry division have been deployed to rescue flood victims in Parashuram and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni district. The Bangladesh Army has so far rescued approximately 6,000 flood-affected people in the flood-affected districts and sent them to various shelters. Besides, relief and food distribution is going on among the flood victims.

Other formations of the Bangladesh Army are monitoring the flood situation in their respective areas of responsibility very carefully and are ready to assist the civilian administration, ISPR said. The Army Chief has instructed the Bangladesh Army to continue this humanitarian operation as a symbol of the nation’s confidence until the flood situation normalizes.
