Brigadier General Jhon Jairo Rojas Gómez, who made headlines a few days ago for not being called to be promoted to major general, will be investigated for several crimes in a process that has just been announced by the Attorney General’s Office.

As detailed by the accusing body, Rojas Gómez is accused of alleged irregular activities of an operational, administrative and personal nature during the months that he was commander of Joint Command number 2 of the subwestern Army, a specialized group that operates in Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño. .

“In that sense, three lines of action are advanced, the first would be related to acts of corruption in the exercise of his position in Argelia, Cauca, where he would have had links with the Diomer Cortés structure of the Second Marquetalia,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.

The second has to do with his alleged sexual harassment of several Army officers who dared to report him.

And a last line of investigation is of course favoring criminal organizations. “According to the evidentiary material, the uniformed man would have allowed mobility corridors and drug trafficking operations to develop in Cauca. “His alleged criminal actions would have affected the work of the authorities in the fight against illegal groups,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.

Brigadier General Rojas Gómez made the news last week because, along with two other soldiers of the same rank, he was not called to the major general course to advance in the traditional line of the Army.

From that moment, the institution assured that it was not about anything personal, but that sometimes the Army only needed a couple of promotions and thus scheduled them depending on supply and demand.

However, these investigations would have had to do with the fact that he was not called for promotion knowing that he would be immersed in harsh questions for links with dissidents and paramilitary groups.

For now, it is known that a prosecutor delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice opened the investigation and that the Army high command would be called to testify in the coming days.
