Chennai: A mourning procession carrying the bodies of 13 people, including Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, crashed into one of the escort vehicles on its way to an air base in Coimbatore’s Sulur. The vehicle was involved in an accident while passing through Ooty. Two people were injured. The convoy continues its journey.

The final greeting, which was accompanied by burning memories, was very emotional. The bodies, which were kept in the Wellington Hospital mortuary in Ooty, were brought to the parade ground in Wellington this morning by an army escort. Hundreds of people were waiting on both sides of the road to see the Joint Chiefs of Staff leave. The bodies of General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were brought together in an army vehicle. The bodies of other military personnel were later brought to the base.

An Air Force helicopter carrying 14 people, including Bipin Rawat, crashed on Wednesday afternoon. The accident took place near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. Bipin Rawat was accompanied by his wife and other employees. One of the Air Force’s flagship helicopters, the Mi-17V5, was involved in the accident.
