O Army
is investigating the disappearance of machine guns that were in the Southeast Military Command, in Barueri, Greater São Paulo.

According to the Southeast Military Command, an inspection — carried out on October 10 — found a “discrepancy in the control” of 21 machine guns at the São Paulo War Arsenal. Of this total, 13 machine guns
they had caliber .50 (which would be capable of downing aircraft) and eight were caliber 7.62.

In a note, the Southeast Military Command reported that these machine guns were “unusable”, that is, they did not work and had been collected for maintenance and were stored in the arsenal.

The Military Command explained that the arsenal is a technical maintenance unit, responsible for the process of scrapping and destroying weapons that cannot be repaired.

“Immediately, all administrative measures were taken with the aim of investigating the circumstances of the incident, and a Military Police Inquiry was launched”, said the organization, informing that the entire troop is “quartered in readiness”, that is, prohibited from going to House. This troop, said the Command, would be made up of around 480 soldiers, who are being interviewed in the investigation.
