Former California Gov. and action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger has chosen to do an important act of kindness and purchased twenty-five homes for homeless military veterans across Los Angeles. The Hollywood star has invested about $ 250,000 of his own money for the homes built by the Village for Vets organization.

“Today I celebrated Christmas early,” Schwarzenegger said in a tweet on Thursday. “The 25 homes I donated to homeless veterans have been deployed here in LA. It was fantastic to spend some time with our heroes and get them into their new homes.”

Schwarzenegger said the theme of Christmas is acts of kindness like this: “You all have the power to do something for someone else this holiday season,” Schwarzenegger, 74, said. “It doesn’t have to be something huge. Just give yourself a few minutes to help. Other.”

Los Angeles has increasingly adopted the tiny home model to address the city’s large homeless population. The units are 64 square feet in size and can be assembled quickly. They have two beds, full heating and air conditioning and a small desk. The Hope of the Valley rescue organization launched its first “tiny home village” in North Hollywood in February this year.

The new homes, as well as Schwarzenegger’s generous donation, are in fact saving lives for the homeless who were once the heroes of the state. Bruce Henry Cooper, a homeless military veteran, told Fox 11: “It will be a lifesaver for me. He has not forgotten us, he has not forgotten anyone,” he said in thanks to the former California governor.
