The Austrian has told it in the Netflix docuseries Arnold
Last June 7 Netflix premiere Arnolda docuseries that investigates the life and career of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The production, directed by Lesley Chilcottreveals the encounter that the actor lived with James Cameron during the filming of Terminator.
One of the most iconic moments of the film is when the protagonist says “return“. Despite having become a legendary sequence, Schwarzenegger was not too convinced at first. “At one point in the middle of filming, we were doing the scene from police station. The phrase is ‘return’. It wasn’t meant to be a big moment at all. It was literally meant to be, to your face, like ‘no problem, come back’. For some reason, Arnold didn’t say ‘come back’. I asked him to say it, to keep it simple,” Cameron said.
Schwarzenegger wanted to modify the sentence, but Cameron did not accept the proposal. “He asked me ‘are you the scriptwriter?’ I said no and I answered ‘well, well, don’t tell me how to write‘”, said the Austrian, who in the documentary admitted that the filmmaker was right. “It became the most quoted cinematographic phrase, I think, in history. So this just shows who he was right and who he was wrong. Just because it’s a blockbuster doesn’t mean critics like it, so it was unheard of for the magazine to Time, its critic, chose it as one of the 10 best films. It even surprised Jim Cameron,” he acknowledged.
Released in 1984, terminator gave rise to a saga that continued in 1991 with Terminator 2: Judgment Day, also directed by Cameron. The action franchise followed with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Gnesis y Terminator: Dark Fate.

The docuseries Arnold it’s divided in three chapters. In the first installment, the artist recalls his childhood in Austria, the moment that catapulted him to fame in the world of bodybuilding and his search for the American dream.
The second chapter portrays the rise Schwarzenegger and Hollywood, and the artist talks about his most prominent roles. The third and final episode focuses on Arnold’s time as Governor of California.
