The Delfina Torres de Concha General Hospital in Esmeraldas, cares for more than 700 daily patients, referred from the 107 first-level units in the province and treated in the specialties of: external consultation, hospitalization, clinical laboratory, Imaging, transfusion medicine, emergency , physical therapy, among others.
Since the first days of January 2023, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) has managed and sent medicines and supplies to all the operational units of the country through the Zonal Coordinations. The Delfina Torres de Concha hospital has acquired a total of $180,835.57 in medicines; in reactive supplies for the laboratory, $77,488.93; and over $170,500 for general purpose medical devices.
The management of drug stock is socialized with health professionals in order to find the best alternatives within the existing drugs. Roberth Cedeño Solís reported; Medical Assistance Director.
On the other hand, Rubén Hernández Arauz, hospital manager, thanked José Rúales, Minister of Public Health, for prioritizing the acquisition of medicines and hospital supplies, which will lead in the first quarter to comply with the regulations to maintain a supply of 80 %.
For his part, Carlos Villalba, Zonal 1 coordinator, pointed out that “we have a supply of 68% of vital medicines that help us to save lives and 61% of essential medicines to treat chronic diseases.” He also said that “About 1 million 500 thousand dollars has already been assigned to this hospital for the acquisition of unlisted supplies and medicines, this commits us to continue strengthening actions to improve our services in this province.” He finished.
Carlos Nazareno, one of the beneficiaries, was approached in the external pharmacy of the Delfina Torres Hospital. He showed his satisfaction upon receiving the complete prescription of medications that were prescribed by the doctor in the consultation.
